Wivi Lönn was a Finnish female architect, whose hand print can be strongly seen in The Local Culture Hostel & Café and its surrounding area. She resided in a house she designed herself in Älylä -neighborhood. During her short time living in Jyväskylä, she designed almost 20 other houses, many of them located in the same area. In 1916, The Local’s own building was renovated into the Jyväskylä public library according to the design by Wivi Lönn. So the Wivi -room is our tribute to the talented architect. In Wivi you can see hints from Jugend style, typical to the period, that the building itself also represents. Light and natural color scheme, wavy shapes, decorative wallpapers and furniture will take you straight to the 1910’s feeling. Wivi -room has a comfy, beautiful double bed.
